Meat Industry Ireland

Market access

First and foremost, increasing international market access is about providing additional market opportunities for Irish exporters so that returns from the market place can be optimised. It is also a protection against volatility. Having full access to a wide range of markets will help to ensure that Ireland is not overly reliant on any one target market or region.

Increasing market access for Irish meat is a top priority within the Meat Industry Ireland (MII) work programme, especially in the context of the potential threats presented by Brexit. MII and its members work very closely with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) and the relevant State Agencies to drive meaningful international market access for Irish meat.
